Sittingbourne and Sheppey MP Gordon Henderson visited Chalkwell Garage Services, Sittingbourne to relaunch our premises in Chalkwell Road. The big yellow building adjacent to the A2 has been home to Chalkwell since the 1930’s and is a familiar site to locals.

Recently the building was rennovated with new signage and a striking yellow and red repaint. The lighting has been changed to LED in order to drastically reduce our carbon footprint. This was made possible by a grant contribution from the Low Carbon Across the South East (LoCASE) scheme, provided by the EU Regional Development Fund.

Additional lifting equipment has been installed thanks to a grant contribution from the South East Business Boost (SEBB) scheme. As well as the new lifts there is an underside facility for commercial vehicles, including vans, horseboxes, motorhomes and other large vehicles.

Gordon was given a brief tour of the site and a history of the building, dating back to when it was purchased by founder Harry Eglinton. Roland Eglinton, Managing Director and Harry’s grandson, commented “We are very pleased with the way the rennovation and equipment upgrades have worked out. We have an eye-catching building, with great staff and great facilites, and local people have a name that they can trust for MOT’s, servicing, repairs and all of their motoring needs”

We are grateful to Gordon for taking time out of his schedule to support a local family business.
